Amusing how Germany got shat on for 70 years because of their part during WW2, but Japan got out of it unscathed, while their leaders during WW2 were unpunished. You know, the guys who bayonetted babies, took part in beheading competitions using Chinese civilians, making sons murder fathers, daughters kill brothers, fathers kill daughters etc. Again, until people know about the war crimes of Japan in WW2 AND until they apologize formally, I think it's a good thing to keep bringing it to attention. Fun fact, the Japanese omitted every single negative thing they did in WW2 of their history books. So almost every single young person literally knows nothing about WW2 except that Japan was the victim. Not even joking.

Japan was horrible for most of its history. As a foreigner that lived in japan for 6 years, I’ve seen lots of attempts done by professors, conservatives, and authors to cover japan’s past atrocities or even denying them in a whole. Students aren’t educated about ww2 history as much as students in Germany got. I knew this because im an international relation and peace studies major, and every foreigners are screaming about this . I grew a little disgusted towards Japan because of this

Japan was 90% war and now is 100% nuked-twice. But tbh the place still is recist and full of hate. Business is polite as long as you meet in public, else it's threats. You are not free to do what you want and if you can not keep up with the pace, you will get overrun. No save-nets to catch you. You dont get a job training, you are trained for the company that hires you. If they decide to fire you, you are fucked. But hey, we get animes from people working up to 100hr shifts. Praising and be proud of a country/your own country is inherently tricky these days. We're hyper-aware of our history (most of the time) and there isn't a group of people that doesn't have both good and bad events happen in their history. It's not really helpful to condemn one country more than the other. It's easy to see a nation as a whole, but the fact remains that these atrocities were committed by people who are either extremely old or dead. If you can prosecute them, do so, otherwise... there's little to get upset about. Human history in general is violent. It's something we have to live with. I am glad I live in the Netherlands, but I feel a foul taste once I hear anyone say he/she is proud of this country's achievements and history. Hence my very first statement.

They're not white, so all bad history is naturally left behind. Is the same with slavery, Muslims enslaved almost 3x more blacks than Europeans, and, needless to say they treated blacks much worse... but you'll never see blacks demanding reparations from Muslims. Now, if Japan was a white nation, at this point, they would be picking more refugees than Sweden and Germany combined, lol.
